Frankincense is amongst the oldest value possession in the world. Dating back centuries, Frankincense has been used for medicine, meditation & more.  DoTERRA has always sought the Highest Quality Frankincense Essential Oil in the world.  One source comes from the most difficult place in the world, Sanaag Region of Somililand.  To put some perspective on the matter, Government structure in this county is non-existent.  
Sourcing the Frankincense in this region is extremely complex.  Over the years, DoTERRA has worked tirelessly with Tribal and Clan officials.  They even Built a hospital in that region and helped facilitate doctors and nurses to the area. During COVID,  DoTERRA lost contact with the official that worked with the farmers that harvest the Frankincense resins.  After COVID it came to light that this official was not being truthful in his dealings with the farmers.  After trying to reach an agreement with the official, they had to break ties with the official, thus ending the supply of Frankincense in that area.   Worse yet, as Emily Wright told us this story in tears, this official, in retaliation, took over the very hospital DoTERRA had built for the people.  Needless to say Emily and the whole Doterra nation is devastated.  And there is nothing anyone can do about it!

Now, DoTERRA is in search of a new source in the region for this most prized resin.

On Friday, September 21st at Doterra’s Convention, Jared Auger and Alex DaBell interviewed a Leading Researcher in the Field of Omega3 Fatty Acids.  He has speant more than 40 years studying Oega Fatt Acids and has authored more than 350 publications on the subject.  He is the inventor of the OMEGA 3 index and founder of Omega 3 Analytics Fatty Acid Institute.  And he ranks among the top 2% of Scientists Worldwide on the subject based on the impact of his Research:  Learn more about Dr. Bill Harris and his interview in the link below.
 
After his introduction to the stage the question was raised:  Why is it so important that weal consume more Omega3 Fatty Acids?  His response was Jaw-dropping?  He said:  “Well for 40 years I thought EPA and DHA WERE the Essential Oils, I think I’ve learned the last couple of days that I might be wrong about that, pretty impressive.”   He goes on further to say:  “The nutrient that is the most missing from the American/western diet is the Omega3 Fatty Acids.  So that is why when you replace them you get such an improvement in health.”




As the interview progressed he goes on to relate that a test that can be very helpful is to get a test called the Omega3 Index.  The test is the best way to measure your tissue levels of our red blood cells Omega3 markers.  The interesting thing is that this is a more stable marker than cholesterol tests.  It is a cell marker which means that what happens there happens everywhere.  This is significant because of the studies by Dr. Harris which we will touch on very briefly.
 
It was discovered by Dr. Harris and his team that having an Omega-3 Index in the desirable range of 8% to 12% has been associated with improved heart, brain, & eye health.
 
One study Called:   Omega-3 Index as a predictor of risk for fatal coronary heart disease the conclusion was:  
Risk for Fatal Coronary Heart Disease was 35% lower in persons with an Omega-3 Index of 8% compared with those with an index of 4%.

Sourcing Trip -july 2024



Monday checked in

Marketing director Scott Greer with Doterra. Mr. High Energy Himself interviewed everyone, took our pictures and posted them to the DMK (Digital Marketing Kit)  You can actually go to Doterra’s website and go to the DMK and find all of the pictures and videos from our trip.  Simply amazing.  In the evening we were treated to a wonderful dinner (Steak the size of Texas I swear) where they went over our itinerary and a special educational training with Doctor Riggs (You can seen him sketching information on the whiteboard).  We’re hoping to have a special zoom call in the near future talking about the things we learned from the Doctor.  Are you in?

Tuesday trip

 In DoTERRA fashion we rode to the fields in a very nice bus for two hours.  Literally guys, the trip felt like it was only 15 minutes long.  On our way we had Dr. Riggs on our bus and we learned so much it was amazing.  Oh, and by the way, I am so proud of Kim guys, she was asked to relate some experiences in front of the whole bus on speaker and she was AMAZING!!!!  As you can see in the picture, she rocked it!!!!  Like I said in the last paragraph we want to make a point to relay some of this wonderful information to all of you.  He discussed some of the latest scientific research that is being conducted, we’d love for you to hear this information for YOUR health benefits. As we stated above, we are anxious to share all that we learned on that Bus trip.  Let us give you a little teaser:  How would you like to know how to support  lower cholesterol naturally with a step by step plan?  Would you like to know more about how essential oils are supporting people in fighting free radical cells?  And so much more..









Sourcing Experience

Once we got to the fields, the Farmers related to us the process of making Peppermint and Roman Chamomile Essential Oil. They harvest the fields just like a hay field.  They combine the plants with the farm equipment.  With the Peppermint they will let it set out for three or four days to let dry, then they put it into their big wagons. Roman Chamomile is harvested right from the combine stage into the hoppers/wagons.  Once they get the wagons filled up they put a lid on top of the wagons and they shoot steam from the bottom part of the wagon and they distill down the batch in about an hour to an hour and a half for peppermint and about 45 minutes for Roman Chamomile.  The tubes at the top of the wagon carry the oil/water mixture into the holding tanks inside the building as you can see in the pictures.  From their they skim off the oil away from the water and put these into big stainless steel pots.  From there they test the oil for water content and make any needed corrections before sending to Doterra’s facilities. Then they took us to the fields.  They harvest approximately 90 acres of Peppermint and 70 acres of Roman Chamomile every year.  We were able to see the fields just before they were ready to harvest.  Now our expectation was that we would really enjoy the Peppermint and not so much the Roman Chamomile.  WOW!!! We were dead wrong.  OK so maybe I was dead wrong.  The aroma from the Roman Chamomile was so Incredible, you could smell it as soon as you got near the field.  Talk about calming and relaxing, as you can see in the pictures it truly is. Everyone wanted to take a nap, lol.  The Peppermint fields are impressive as well.  Do you remember how we teach in class when you take a leaf from a peppermint plant and crush it in your hand that you are actually breaking open the sacs in the leaf and getting the oil from the sac?  We experienced that as well.  Next, we were treated to lunch in this huge upper loft of the farmers barn where we all got to take our pictures with them.  They were such an awesome couple.  You could tell they put their heart and soul into their work just for us.  We were so blown away by their work  For example, they weed their fields with a hoe and shovel.  Can you imagine the hours that it must take to do that in 160 acres of fields?   Incredible!!!!!  Then, it got even better.  They allowed each us of to take a pipette and, from a fresh batch of peppermint oil, they let us do a 15ml bottle of our own peppermint oil.  Wow, what a treat!!

Next, our ride home we had a surprise.  We were able to have our own Forest Bathing experience.  We all found a spot in a small wooded area outside of Portland to just sit, touch a tree and plants around us, meditate, and relax.  Then we all smelled the Shin Rin Yoku.  It does not smell the same as when you are inside your home.  Would you like to learn why?  Lastly, we had to load the buses to back to our Hotel.  However, we had a sudden surprise!!!!  Scott Greer The Marketing Director got on the bus and this is what he said:  “Tim and Kim, you gotta get off the bus right now, we found your Sequoia Tree!”  So the story behind this is Kim and I were hoping to see Sequoia trees when we first got to Portland Monday morning, however, we were so tired we took a nap instead.  So I asked the Doterra people ahead of time if they thought we would see any Sequoia’s, but they said they didn’t know, until…just before we left from the Forest Bathing experience.  You can see the pictures of Kim and I hugging the Sequoia Tree and we weren’t even half way around the tree.  And…this is a “Baby Sequoia” as they call it.  What a wonderful Treat!!!!

 Lastly, our farewell Dinner Tuesday night.  We were honored to hear from some of the fellow advocates that were with us, both of them we met personally and got to spend some time with.  One of them was a gal from the Ukraine who resides in Canada, the other gal was from Amarillo, Texas.  We met her and her husband and you can see a picture of them with Kim and I and the farmers from the Peppermint/Roman Chamomile farm. And finally the last speaker was…me.  The Director of the Diamond Club approached me when we were at the farm and asked me how I was enjoying the trip so far and so I told her how much I appreciated Doterra and letting us come on these trips, etc.  So a little bit later she approached me and asked if I would give a little speech at dinner.  I tried so hard to keep it a secret from Kim to surprise her, but at the very end, the director approached me at our table and ruined the surprise, kind of.  The speech went well.  Have to tell you I was honored, energized, and horrified all in the same breath.  But in the end it was great.  All in all, it was a fast, fantastic, and invigorating trip.  Our hope is that we can as a team we can go to the Birch Essential Oil Facility in Kane, Pennsylvania.  The drive would be about 8 hours to the facility.  We would drive one day, stay overnight, go to the facility for a tour and either stay over one night  more or drive home same day.  Can’t wait to see you all again.
